Business People of Whitfield (BPOW) – PEAK Entrepreneur Academy
Business People of Whitfield is our PEAK entrepreneurial Academy, supported by industry experts the learning program gives students opportunities to turn ideas into action and experience what it means to create, develop and deliver something of value. Students explore how businesses and organisations work, identify needs and opportunities, develop products or services, consider costs and marketing, and work collaboratively to bring their ideas to life. Through authentic projects and connections with our local community and through real life sales, students build confidence, creativity, communication and financial awareness while developing the initiative and problem-solving skills that reflect our commitment to growing Resilient, Skilled Problem Solvers.
Entrepreneurial education is important at Whitfield as it helps young people develop the skills and dispositions to recognise opportunities, generate ideas, solve problems and take purposeful action. In a primary school setting, entrepreneurship is much broader than simply learning how to run a business. Students learn to be curious, creative and resourceful; to collaborate, communicate and make decisions; and to test ideas, respond to feedback and learn from setbacks. These authentic learning experiences connect knowledge from areas such as Mathematics, English, Technologies and Humanities with real-world challenges, helping students understand that their ideas can have value and that they have the capacity to make a positive contribution to their school, community and future.
Earth Rangers - PEAK Academy
Our Earth Rangers Academy gives students the opportunity to become active custodians of our school and the extraordinary natural environment that surrounds us. Through practical, hands-on experiences, students explore biodiversity, conservation, sustainability and environmental stewardship, while taking meaningful action within the school and wider community. Making use of Whitfield's extensive tropical grounds and rainforest setting, Earth Rangers investigate environmental challenges, contribute to projects that improve and protect natural spaces, and learn how everyday choices can make a difference. The Academy develops curiosity, responsibility, teamwork and problem-solving, empowering students to become informed young people who understand that they can play an active role in creating a more sustainable future.
Sustainability and Environmental learning at Whitfield
Sustainability is a cross-curriculum priority within the Australian Curriculum and provides opportunities for Queensland students to explore the connections between environmental, social and economic systems. Across learning areas such as Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Technologies and Health and Physical Education, students investigate natural environments, ecosystems, resource use and the impact of human actions. Importantly, sustainability education extends beyond simply learning about environmental issues. Students are encouraged to investigate problems, consider different perspectives, design possible solutions and take informed action. In Queensland, with its unique ecosystems and extraordinary biodiversity, these learning experiences provide a powerful opportunity for students to develop the knowledge, skills and sense of responsibility needed to contribute to sustainable communities and care for the environments of the future.

Gifted Global Green
Gifted Global Green is a specialised enrichment program at Whitfield State School designed to challenge highly capable students through complex, authentic environmental and global issues. Students investigate real-world challenges, explore different perspectives and apply higher-order thinking to develop creative and sustainable solutions. The program moves beyond simply acquiring knowledge, encouraging students to question, research, collaborate, design and communicate their thinking. Through intellectually demanding learning experiences, focused on the 6cs of Creativity, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication, Citizenship and Character as well as action connected to the 17 global sustainable development goals, Gifted Global Green provides students with opportunities to work alongside like-minded peers, pursue ideas in greater depth and develop the independence, creativity and sophisticated problem-solving skills that highly capable learners need to thrive.
Solid Pathways
Solid Pathways is a Queensland Department of Education academic extension program that supports high-achieving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to extend their learning and realise their academic potential. The program provides eligible students in our school with challenging learning experiences that promote critical and creative thinking, inquiry, collaboration and high expectations for achievement. Through participation in Solid Pathways, students can connect with other high-achieving First Nations learners while developing their confidence, academic capabilities and aspirations for future learning. At Whitfield, the program complements our commitment to ensuring students are recognised for their strengths and provided with opportunities that challenge them to continue growing and achieving.
