This program aligns the year's activities to the General Capabilities of the Australian Curriculum (Personal & Social Capabilities and Intercultural Understanding).

The activities will be designed to develop:

  • Leadership skills – Initiate or help organise group activities, projects that our students can work on as a team.
  • Develop reflective practices – Reflect on what students have learnt about themselves from a range of experiences provided through the Cultural camps, leadership projects in our school and community.
  • Understand themselves as learners – Discuss students strengths and weaknesses as learners and identify some learning strategies to assist them.
  • Make decisions – Through group activities, class meetings and working in pairs.
  • Investigate Culture and Cultural identity – Through learnings about their own connections to the Traditional Owner groups they belong to and the cultural protocols of their tribes/Clans.
  • Mediate Cultural Difference – Students will be involved in learning about and engaging with diverse cultures in our school in ways that recognise commonalities and differences, create connections with others and cultivate mutual respect (Walking in Two Worlds).
