Gifted education program

The Gifted Education Program (GEP) at Whitfield State School has evolved within the context of a holistic vision of teaching and learning.  It encompasses our Statement of Purpose which states that we are committed to facilitating quality educational outcomes for all students. The GEP addresses the needs of identified and yet-to-be identified students with potential for higher learning and achievement.

In April 2015, our GEP received Regional endorsement as a Program of Excellence. This stated our clear eligibility and our goals of:

  • ensuring all staff members are aware of the characteristics of giftedness and the specific learning needs of gifted students

  • actively identifying students who are gifted regardless of their ethnicity, location, (dis)ability, gender or economic status.ctively identifying students who are gifted regardless of their ethnicity, location, (dis)ability, gender or economic status
